Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for the upcoming animated film “Smurfs,” featuring Rihanna as the voice of Smurfette. In the trailer, Rihanna performs a cover of Belinda Carlisle’s “Heaven Is a Place on Earth” and provides an introduction to the film. She also serves as a producer and has created original songs for the movie’s soundtrack.
The film follows Smurfette and her friends as they venture into the real world to rescue Papa Smurf from the clutches of the evil wizards Gargamel and Razamel. The star-studded voice cast includes John Goodman as Papa Smurf, Nick Offerman, Natasha Lyonne, Octavia Spencer, Sandra Oh, Amy Sedaris, Nick Kroll, and Kurt Russell in undisclosed roles.
“Smurfs” is directed by Chris Miller and co-directed by Matt Landon. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on July 18, 2025.
